Good Afternoon Everyone,
This is the last Sunday of August! Time keeps right on slipping into the future. Its not going to stop. We can wish that things would stop, but they aren’t going to do that. So what can we do in the midst of constant change? We can rally around our foundation. In this Sunday’s text from Joshua 24, we read about Joshua calling upon the people of Israel to make a decision. At one time they worshipped other gods on the other side of the river. Are you going to worship them, Joshua asks, or are you going to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?
To some extent that is what every Sunday is for us who call ourselves Christian, a time to rally around our foundation. It is a time to remember who has given us new life. That way we can face the oncoming future head on. Our faith is not passive. It demands that we constantly decide who we will follow and serve. It calls us to pick up the cross every morning.
Who will you serve?
Next week we will have our “Fellowship Meal” following the worship service. In two weeks we will renew our Discipleship program. Be in prayer about your level of participation for the coming year.
