FBC Movie Night [October 13]
Showing this month is the movie “The Shack.”
After the abduction and presumed death of Mackenzie Allen Phillip’s youngest daughter, Missy, Mack receives a letter and suspects it is from God, asking him to return to the shack where Missy may have been murdered. After contemplating it, he leaves his home to go to the shack for the first time since Missy’s abduction and an encounter that will change his life forever. Movie begins at 6:30 p.m. and the popcorn and water is always free.

Mullins Presentation [October 15]
Jared and Chelsea Mullins will be giving a presentation about their ministry in Peoria Illinois at Bradley University. They are working with CRU [formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ] Plan to attend worship and be blessed by hearing what God is doing through this couple.
Men’s Breakfast [October 21]
Join us on Saturday morning at 8:00 am for the monthly breakfast. This is also a work day where we will do some work around the church.

Church Quarterly Summit [October 29]
On Sunday, October 29, following the worship service we will hold our Quarterly Church Summit. You will get a first glance at a proposed 2018 budget and vote on the 2018 board. There will be other matters to attend to as well. Please make plans to attend and participate.

Operation Christmas Child [November 13]
Collection week is November 13-20. Here is the revised list of what to not include in a gift box: Candy; toothpaste, used or damaged items; war-related items such as guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes [powdered or liquid];liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

Community Need
The Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging is in urgent need of volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors in the Dubuque area. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday starting at 10:30 a.m. Time commitment is approximately 1 1/2 hours. You can decide how often you want to help – once a week or once a month! World Missions Offering 2017 [October]
This October we will begin to collect for the World Mission Offering. Our collection goes to support Jeff and Annie Dieselberg in Thailand. In our budget we have already committed $2000 to Jeff and Annie Dieselberg, $1000 to Night Light , and $200 to the World Mission Offering. Our goal for plate offering is $500. Please be praying about what God would have you do to support this ministry. More news to follow.

Iron Sharpens Iron: A Women’s Equipping Conference from Focal Point Ministries [November 4, 2017]
This year’s speakers are Gail Dudley and Leslie Ludy. The conference date is Saturday, November 4 at River Church in Clinton Iowa. Last year’s conference was sold out so early registration is highly recommended. There will be ten different seminars and this event is for women of all ages [13 and older]. The early registration deadline is October 18. Costs are: Early registration 1-9 women: Adult: $67 with lunch [$59 without]. Student $40 with lunch [$32 without]. Lunch is Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap, Chips, Chocolate chunk cookie and a

Nadia Bolz-Weber [November 9, 2017]
Clarke University and the Mackin-Mailander Lecture have invited Nadia Bolz-Weber to be this year’s speaker. Her topic is “The Risks and Rewards of Being Honest about Ourselves.” The lecture will be on November 9 at 7 p.m. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Kehl Center. $10 general admission.
