Our Daily Bread
You can pick up your free issue of the June, July, August edition of Our Daily Bread. This tried and true daily devotional is in the foyer by the table next to the side entrance.

Baptism Sunday
Baptisms will be held on the last Sunday of the month. The next Baptism Sunday will be August 27. This is a public event occurring during the regular worship service. You will be fully immersed. You will need to meet with the Pastor prior to baptism for some questions and answers. To be baptized on August 27, please contact the Pastor before August 20.

Collection for the Suns
We haven’t closed the books on the Suns yet. We will continue to receive a collection for the Sun’s. Thanks to everyone for assisting us in meeting the $6000 goal. Please inform Bob Happ if you are supporting them directly through monthly contributions. Blessings!

Operation Christmas Child
As summer ends and we start thinking ahead, please remember Operation Christmas Child. FBC will again be a collection spot and folks will be bringing the boxes mid-November. Collection week is November 13-20,

There are some important changes this year in what can be included. I’ve bolded the items no longer allowed. Basically, nothing that can be ingested will be accepted.

Not allowed in boxes: toothpaste, used or damaged items; war-related items such as guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes [powdered or liquid]; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

Text for Sunday, August 27
Here are the text’s that will be used for next week’s sermon. Pray through them, meditate on them and pray for pastor as he listens for God’s leading for the coming week’s message. Isaiah 51:1-6; Psalm 138; Romans 12:1-8; Matthew 16:13-20.

Discipleship Begins September 10
On Sunday, September 10 we will return to our regular schedule with the renewal of our discipleship program for all ages. These classes will be prior to our 10:00 a.m. worship and meet at 9:00 a.m. Look for more information in the coming weeks.

Awareness of High-Control Groups
This is an educational seminar about mind-control groups. The keynote speaker is Aaron Smith-Levin, a former Scientologist who was interviewed in the Leah Remini television series “Scientology – the Aftermath.” He has a very compelling story about his years in Scientology. Also, Donna Backstrom will share her family’s experience with “The Love Holy Trinity Blessed Mission,” a cultic group with followers in Dubuque and surrounding areas. Another speaker will share how his family has been negatively impacted by a local high-control group.

How to get help if you think you or your friends are involved in a high-control group.

Saturday, September 9 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Grand Opera House, 135 8th Street, Dubuque. Complimentary coffee and donuts. Admission is free. Donations appreciated.

Iron Sharpens Iron: A Women’s Equipping Conference from Focal Point Ministries
This year’s speakers are Gail Dudley and Leslie Ludy. The conference date is Saturday, November 4 at River Church in Clinton Iowa. Last year’s conference was sold out so early registration is highly recommended. There will be ten different seminars and this event is for women of all ages [13 and older]. The early registration deadline is October 18. Costs are: Early registration 1-9 women: Adult: $67 with lunch [$59 without]. Student $40 with lunch [$32 without]. Lunch is Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap, Chips, Chocolate chunk cookie and a drink. All registrations are online at
