First Baptist Church’s Early Learning Program is a flexible program that changes according to our participants’ needs. These are our current offerings.

Early Learners (Birth to Two Years of Age)

Early Learners Sunday School meets during the months of September to May from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday School on Christmas or on Easter Sunday.

Our youngest learners will enjoy Bible stories, listening to songs, finger plays, and learning activities which help them learn to experience church in an enjoyable way. Our lead teacher has a current background check, CPR/First Aid training, and is a certified teacher/administrator.

Early Learners (Nursery for Worship Hour)

We currently have a well-stocked family room complete with a diaper changing area, crib, rocking chairs and a CD player for lullabies. No worries about missing the sermon if you wish to step out of the service with your little one. We have a live television feed of the service! You are welcome to come visit, play, and read with your infant, enjoy quiet music, or listen to a sermon while you nurse or soothe your baby.

The Early Learners infant and family room will be staffed by church volunteers during the 10:00 a.m. worship service for those families wishing to leave their child. Volunteers are available after the singing and praise time of the worship service. All volunteers have completed a background check. For those families wishing to leave their child with staff, we ask that you take a few minutes to meet the teachers and fill out a short form regarding your contact information and any special needs or allergies your child may have.

Preschool Children’s Worship (Two Years Old to Kindergarten)

Preschool Children’s Worship meets year-round. Our 10:00 a.m. group meets following the singing and worship time of the church service. For registered children, the children are escorted back to early learners following the offering time by the teachers or a family member.

For the safety of your child(ren), we ask that for your first time joining us, you take a few minutes to meet the teachers and fill out a short form regarding your contact information and any special needs or allergies your child may have.

Early Learners enjoy Bible stories, crafts, snacks, songs, finger plays, Godly Play presentations, and learning activities which reinforce the Bible lesson. Our classroom has its own sink and bathroom facilities. We have several dramatic play areas, a multicultural children’s library and cabinets with Montessori work. Our classroom also has an extensive library of teacher resource material. More About Our Chosen Churchwide Sunday School Curriculum:

Seasons of the Spirit is an international, lectionary-based church school curriculum that builds strong faith communities by centering the ministries of Christian education, worship, and service around common scriptures each week. Published by Woodlake Publishing, the resources invite the whole faith community to engage in scripture in an imaginative way through activities, discussion, sharing of current events, and the arts. This curriculum invites church participants to journey into the contemporary world to test, share, and live out their faith in a practical and life-changing way.
